The name Dunia Baru means ‘New World’ in Bahasa Indonesia, which is an apt description of the adventures on offer aboard this luxury 7-cabin, 51-metre phinisi superyacht. The ship was built over a period of eight years by Konjo shipbuilders in Sulawesi who draw on traditional Indonesian craftsmanship finely honed over the centuries. The sturdy ironwood hull and soaring wine-hued sails harken back to the past, while the interiors feature ultra-modern design and decor and cutting edge technology.
Dunia Baru’s three spacious decks offer endless possibilities for relaxation, entertainment and dining. Watch dramatic landscapes pass you by from the beanbags on the foredeck, catch some sea breezes from the wheelhouse balcony, or indulge in gourmet meals under the stars at the long teak table on the aft deck. Head inside and the interiors open up to a large lounge room with soft sofas and exquisitely carved wooden cabinets. There is also a family-style kitchen and dining area with a teppanyaki grill taking centre place, and a cosy library for lazy afternoons with good books.
Staying true to her Indonesian name, Dunia Baru takes private charter guests to a “New World” saturated in luxury and adventure, whether it’s witnessing a lava flow in Alor, surfing Sumbawa’s perfect waves or diving among fields of pristine coral in Raja Ampat. Each itinerary is tailored according to guests’ every desires, and sailing with Dunia Baru will give guests the opportunity to swim among some of the most remote and astonishingly diverse reefs in the world, kayak in crater lakes, pitch up for picnics on deserted pink beaches and explore uninhabited islands where ancient Komodo dragons roam against a backdrop of smouldering volcanoes.
There are 7 stately cabins on Dunia Baru, including the master suite with huge wraparound windows, handcrafted furniture fashioned out of wood sourced in Borneo, a private balcony with a daybed, and an ensuite bathroom with a luxe rainforest shower and matching his and hers vanities. The other 6 cabins are below deck and feature the same attention to detail in the wooden decor and furnishings and ensuite bathrooms. Each suite also features an independent air-conditioning system, mood lighting, LED flat-screen TV and a DVD player.
Dunia Baru is outfitted in the latest technology to ensure you have every convenience at your fingertips, plus a few extras that go above and beyond your usual yacht charter. Use the ship’s iPad to control the Sonos 14-zone system that covers all indoor and outdoor areas including the 30 speakers and subwoofers throughout the ship. Catch the latest movies and TV shows on the 60-inch LED TV with satellite channels in the lounge, or forgo the background noise and just enjoy the sound of the sea amid soft LED strip lighting. At night the 34 underwater LED lights illuminate the ocean and attract marine life big and small, and by day you have access to top-of-the-line dive gear, jet skis, sea kayaks, SUP (stand up paddle) boards, water skis and fishing gear.
The 18-member crew includes a private chef who will prepare you culinary delights like freshly grilled seafood, Indonesian fare, and Western classics, as well as a cruise director who can arrange special excursions, a dive instructor who can take you to breathtaking underwater worlds, and an experienced captain who will make sure the sailing is smooth and the scenery spectacular.
Dunia Baru was built in 2013 and spans 51m with an 11m beam and 4.2m draft. 7 cabins accommodate up to 14 guests. She cruises at a maximum speed of 14 knots.
