INDOOR LIVING
The covered walkway at Villa Semarapura’s entrance leads you to an expansive living room on the upper level of the main living pavilion. Taking up the entire top floor, this lavish open-sided space has a soaring ceiling, polished terrazzo floors and wooden furniture laden in colourful cushions. Folding doors opens to a huge ironwood verandah with two breakfast tables that look over the garden out to the ocean and a Balinese sea temple.
On the ground floor of the main living pavilion there is a media room and bar with a massive sofa facing a 60-inch TV, a pool table, a study corner with a writing desk and a library of books, and a Bose sound system that can provide music to various areas around the villa including the living room, dining room and pool pavilion.
The dining room and kitchen are in separate stand-alone pavilions to one side of the main living pavilion. The dining pavilion is particularly striking with water walls on three sides, a circular dining table for 10 that faces the ocean, and folding doors that can be opened to allow sea breezes to flow in. Behind is the kitchen pavilion with comfortable bar stools fronting a granite breakfast bar and a professional kitchen that is open to guests or can be left to your private chef.
MASTER SUITE
Set in its own pavilion with water features on both sides, the master suite is a secluded and serene sanctuary with a canopied king bed and a bright and spacious lounge area decorated with Indonesian artworks and artefacts. Huge sliding glass doors open to an ironwood deck with a Jacuzzi/plunge pool and a beautiful breakfast area. The master suite also has a black granite bathroom set in a glazed alcove with an oversized bathtub for two, a rain shower, and a garden courtyard with an outdoor shower.
GUEST SUITES
Guest suites 2 and 3 are located in separate stand-alone pavilions fronted by a lotus pond with bubbling fountains. Each suite has a king bed, teak floors, and gorgeous ensuite bathrooms with granite-rimmed bathtubs, rain showers, and outdoor showers. These suites share a shaded outdoor area with a daybed under a pergola.
Guest suites 4 and 5 are set in a two-storey pavilion that offers lovely sea views. On the upper floor there is a spacious bedroom with a king bed and an ocean-facing balcony with a daybed and table. This room also has its own entrance lobby, a dressing area with trundle beds for two nannies, and an ensuite bathroom with a rain shower, bathtub, and outdoor shower. Perfect for children or friends sharing a room, the ground floor bedroom has a split-king bed and an ensuite bathroom that opens to a terrace.
OUTDOOR LIVING
At the centre of Villa Semarapura is the 20-metre swimming pool that includes a shallow area for children. This is surrounded by a large ironwood deck with cushioned sunbeds and umbrellas. One one side of the pool there is an al fresco dining pavilion with a table for 10 made out of railway ties. On the other side is a living pavilion with soft daybeds and a sunken bar, which makes for the perfect sunset cocktail spot. Follow the lawn towards the ocean and you will reach a beautiful bale where you relax listening to the sounds of the ocean and take in superlative sunsets.

Villa Semarapura is located on Cemagi Beach, in full view of the sacred sea temple Pura Gede Luhur Batungaus rising from a rocky outcrop pounded by waves rolling in from the Indian Ocean. The beach of black volcanic sand is great for morning jogs and sunset strolls with far-reaching views towards the Bukit Peninsula, but strong currents render it unsuitable for swimming. Within walking distance of Villa Semarapura are a handful of other luxury villas while a 20-minute stroll along the beach will bring you to Nganyi beach where there are a couple of local warungs (cafés). A few kilometres away is the pretty village of Cemagi, where guests can experience the traditional Balinese way of life including colourful Hindu ceremonies. Ten kilometres or so to the south are some of the island’s best surfing beaches (Echo Beach is renowned for its laid-back surfer vibe), while golf enthusiasts can head north to the Nirwana Bali Golf Course at Tanah Lot, one of the best golf courses in Asia. The villa's 16-seat minibus and driver are available daily for guests who want to explore the island (extra charge applies).
