The word ‘layar’ means ‘sail’ in Indonesian, making The Layar a fitting moniker for Seminyak’s newest designer villas and spa. The name refers to the stunning asymmetrical roofs here that slope at an angle and fall dramatically to the ground, evoking the sails of traditional Indonesian sailboats. This is tropical-chic architecture at its best and a serene enclave in the midst of some of Bali’s best restaurants, shops and bars. Despite having an impressive 23 villas, The Layar - Designer Villas and Spa still manages to instil a feeling of openness and space, as the villas are spread out around a large grassy expanse filled with lofty flowering trees, and the setting is elevated, which makes it seem as though the boundary walls are non-existent. The villas themselves were built with total privacy in mind and feature gorgeous garden sanctuaries, open living spaces, elegant pools, modern interiors and luxurious amenities. The Layout

As the only one, four-bedroom luxury villa at The Layar - Designer Villas and Spa, this is the grandest of them all with a sprawling garden awash in stone slabs and a lily pond, a large swimming pool backed by a contoured wall, a separate jacuzzi and spa/massage room, a Bengkirai wood pool deck, oversized sun loungers, an outdoor dining table replete with a BBQ station, and plenty of spacious rooms that look out over the garden and pool.

The split-level living area has a media room that overlooks the ground floor living space, a raised dining area with a large table that can seat up to 8 people, a breakfast bar, and a tranquil sitting area that overlooks the garden. The master bedroom features a king-sized bed, huge wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom with a terrazzo tub and an open-air shower, and three plush bedrooms spread out off the main villa.

Indoor Living
The large split-level living room provides a perfect balance of sociable open- plan entertainment space and quiet get-away-from-it-all corners. On a raised platform of polished Merbau wood, a dining table for eight is separated from the well-equipped kitchen by a bar counter. On the lower level, sofas are arranged around a coffee table overlooking the garden and pool. Above is a mezzanine media room where sensually curved seating runs the full length of one wall.

Master Suite
A curved display wall creates an imposing backdrop to the master suite’s leather-and-wood bed which faces a bank of wardrobes and a desk set below a wall-mounted TV. A corner banquette looks onto a small garden open to the bathroom, where there’s a terrazzo bathtub, vanity with twin basins, shower enclosure and second alfresco shower.

Guest Suites
Discreetly tucked off the living room in the main villa are the three large air-conditioned guest bedrooms, each with a unique charm. One is multi-level, with the bed on a raised Merbau-wood platform facing the pool, and a dressing area and large garden bathroom (with twin basins, indoor and outdoor showers and a bathtub) on the lower level. The two other bedrooms – one with a king, the other with twin beds – look onto their own corner gardens and also have indoor/outdoor bathrooms with bathtub, shower enclosure, and twin basins.

Outdoor Living
There’s more luscious lounging space in the garden, with oversized sunbeds languishing on the lawn and sun loungers and a circular love seat set on the pool deck. Submerged seating in the jacuzzi and shallow wings flanking the pool provide the perfect spots to stretch out and cool down. For sunset cocktails and alfresco meals there’s a dining table for six set before a barbecue cooking station.

The Layar is an exclusive residential enclave set well back from a quiet road a short stroll from Jalan Laksmana, Seminyak’s culinary and fashion epi-centre. And mere moments away is the sweep of the black-sand Petitenget Beach, famed for its surf breaks and sunset bars.

Highly Recommended

We enjoyed a relaxing and tranquil stay in the 4 bedroom villa. Beautifully appointed with stylish indoor and outdoor living areas – the Villa was well equipped and afforded our family fun times to enjoy around the private pool. The location is ideal and central to some terrific restaurants and bars and boutique shops. We would definitely recommend the Layar to our friends and family.

Heaven

I felt like I was in heaven from the minute I stepped into Villa 5 (4 Bed Villa) at The Layer. My husband & I were in the Master Bedroom, that is separate to the Main Villa, which meant we had our own little private hideaway.Apart from the 3 bedrooms & ensuites in the Main Villa, there was a magnificent TV room, with wrap around lounge. The kitchen was well equipped, the dining table very comfortably accommodated our large family. Also has it’s own massage room with shower & toilet, that was handy for when we were out by the pool. Most of our entertaining was out by the Pool & Spa.The Garden/ Pool area set in a lush garden setting, can only be described as Paradise. The staff were absolutely amazing, if ever we needed anything, they were at the Villa within seconds to accommodate our request.They serviced the Villa, Pool & Gardens daily & all staff were always happy & friendly. The breakfast provided was amazing with the staff coming in at the requested time & setting everything up & then coming back to clear away. Also would like to mention we utilised room service for lunch & sometimes afternoon snacks, prices were very reasonable & again meals magnificent. I thoroughly recommend staying at The Layar especially at Villa 5.A very memorable experience.

Perfection

Me and bunch of friends went there for a short break and The Layar has it all. The rooms are perfect and let me not start with the bathroom. It was so spacious that you can dance around and have your bath with peace. The swimming pool itself is also a big temptation for everyone to jump in right after check in. We couldn’t handle the aqua color pool. As for the butler service is very helpful since we were travelling with little kid,so there are some menu that needs to be adjusted to suit little kid taste bud. I can’t say anymore but perfection.
