The word ‘layar’ means ‘sail’ in Indonesian, making The Layar a fitting moniker for Seminyak’s newest designer villas and spa. The name refers to the stunning asymmetrical roofs here that slope at an angle and fall dramatically to the ground, evoking the sails of traditional Indonesian sailboats. This is tropical-chic architecture at its best and a serene enclave in the midst of some of Bali’s best restaurants, shops and bars. Despite having an impressive 23 villas, The Layar - Designer Villas and Spa still manages to instil a feeling of openness and space, as the villas are spread out around a large grassy expanse filled with lofty flowering trees, and the setting is elevated, which makes it seem as though the boundary walls are non-existent. The villas themselves were built with total privacy in mind and feature gorgeous garden sanctuaries, open living spaces, elegant pools, modern interiors and luxurious amenities. The Layout

The two-bedroom villas all have multiple levels that offer plenty of space for socializing as well as cozy corners for peace and privacy. The 2-tiered living and dining areas have curved walls, roofs that soar at angles high above and acid-washed marble floors that extend from the lush gardens all the way to the edges of the private swimming pools. The media rooms seem to hover above the open-plan living areas, and the master and guest suites flank the lower living areas. Each of the bedrooms has king-sized beds and ensuite bathrooms with large bathtubs, showers and small private gardens.

Indoor Living
At the heart of The Layar’s two-bedroom villas is the two-tiered, light-flooded living area, individually defined by angled roofs and curved walls. Handsome sofas, chairs and dining tables cluster on the acid-washed marble floors that flow unrestricted from the pool edge to a verdant courtyard overlooked by the open-plan and very well-equipped kitchen (including wine fridge and bar counter). The mezzanine media room appears to float above the living area, its curved bank of built-in seating gazing towards the pool. (In most of the two-bedroom villas, this space is enclosed and air-conditioned).

Guest Suites
Behind a curved wall of India stone is the spacious master bedroom with sliding doors onto either a small deck or private corner of the garden. The glamorous bathroom is fitted with a large bathtub, shower and double basins, and features a private garden. The guest bedroom is just as enticing and secluded, with garden view and an equally gorgeous ensuite bathroom.

Outdoor Living
The garden provides further space for relaxation and socialising. Sun loungers stretch out on the deck, while a jacuzzi and tiered shallow steps in the pool offer tempting spots for cooling-off.

The Layar is an exclusive residential enclave set well back from a quiet road a short stroll from Jalan Laksmana, Seminyak’s culinary and fashion epi-centre. And mere moments away is the sweep of the black-sand Petitenget Beach, famed for its surf breaks and sunset bars.

Unforgettable

When we arrived and were taken to our villa we were impressed by the amazing view that greeted us. This was above all of the other 5 star+ villas and resorts we have stayed in. The indoor/outdoor living aspect of the villa is something that we love as this is something that is impossible where we live. Everything in the villa was of the highest standard and highest quality. All the staff were exceptional. So friendly and genuinely happy to help with any request we had. Any time a member of staff had to come to the villa they were always preceded by either a phone call from reception or a call from the gate intercom so there was never an unexpected interruption. The buggy service into Seminyak is very handy although the villas are only a 5 minute walk from Eat-Street. The whole team work very well together making sure your stay is unforgettable.

What a place! Fantastic!!

A private villa with hotel services and 5* staff… From the first contact via the web site to enquire to the time we were dropped back to the airport we were treated like royalty. Staff were great with nothing too much bother, the villas were fabulous, food tasty, on time and well presented. The location is good and just 1 minute to local restaurants and supermarket and a further 5-10 mins to lots of great shops and the breach. We can’t wait to book again. Thanks to the Layar for a great holiday.

Relaxing & Beautiful

I have been to Bali several times before, staying at many different places but never have I found a place as relaxing and as beautiful as The Layar. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and really add so much value to the atmosphere. They maintain such a professional attitude and make you feel like a part of the family. The owner even took the time to say hello to us and give us background into the reasons for calling the villa “The Layar”. The complex is beautifully set up and really makes you feel like you are in paradise. I would recommend this to anyone who is wanting to stay in Bali. From now on, I know exactly where I will be staying!
