Overview

Chalina Estate gives guests a taste of old and new Bali with traditional Balinese architecture like soaring alang-alang thatched roofs and dark timber floors alongside modern abstract paintings, funky sculptures and exotic Indonesian artefacts. The result is a colourful and quirky, yet elegant ambiance throughout. The sprawling gardens and sumptuous living and dining areas offer spaces to socialise and spread out, while the breezy bedrooms with their rice paddy and river views are serene sanctuaries for rest and relaxation. The Layout

INDOOR LIVING
The impressive two-tiered living and dining pavilion at Chalina Estate features open sides to allow air to flow in and lofty ceilings with cooling ceiling fans. The living area on the lower tier offers seating at comfortable L-shaped sofas around a huge coffee table, while the dining area on the upper tier sports cushioned wicker chairs in violet hues around a solid timber dining table that can seat up to 14 people. Adding to the ambiance are serene ponds with water lillies, a bubbling waterfall and stone vase fountains next to the dining area.

Fronting the living and dining pavilion is an air-conditioned lounge bar with large daybeds and a sleek black granite bar. This room can also be converted into a cinema room with a projector screen or opened up with two sets of French doors that lead to a terrace overlooking the Pangi River, and another terrace overlooking the pool with a shaded outdoor dining area that can seat up to eight people.

OUTDOOR LIVING
The stunning 35-metre pool is the main attraction at Chalina Estate with its floating pool gazebo that is perfect for massages, sundowner cocktails or just relaxing with a good book. The lawns surrounding the pool have single and double loungers for suntanning or reclining in the shade under an umbrella. Guests can also enjoy the al fresco lifestyle at the dining area next to the main pavilion with a glass table that seats eight and white sails to provide shade.

MASTER SUITES
Chalina Estate has two gorgeous master suites located in the main pavilion. Located on the upper storey, Saffron sports a fuschia and green theme and has sliding glass doors that lead out to a wooden deck with a plush sofa, ottomans and amazing views over the garden and rice paddies. Amber is located on the first floor landing and has a turquoise and white theme and a unique mezzanine level with a huge daybed that can be used as an extra bed. Both master suites have four-poster king-sized beds, 40-inch flat-screen TVs, blackout curtains, small fridges, and ensuite bathrooms with stainless steel bathtubs, rain showers and twin basins.

GUEST SUITES
Located on the main pavilion on the ground floor, Ginger can be accessed through the garden and opens to a stone patio that overlooks the pool. This suite features polished terrazzo floors, a king sized bed with bright orange and purple silk accents, a contemporary egg-shaped chair and an ensuite bathroom with a Palimanan stone floor, stainless steel tub, rain shower and twin basins.

The remaining three guest suites at Chalina Estate (Paprika, Clove and Vertyver) are located in their own separate, standalone pavilions facing the pool in the garden. Each has its own peaceful patio, a king bed draped in mosquito netting, 32-inch TV, DVD player, stereo, small fridge and an ensuite bathroom with cobbled stone floors, black marble twin basins and a rain shower.

Adding to its appeal, Chalina Estate also has two extra sleeping areas for larger groups and families. Cinnamon Room is on the ground floor of the main pavilion, and normally functions as a study, but can be converted into a bedroom with twin whitewashed teak beds. This room also has an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub and rain shower. Then there is the Bunk Room with five sets of bunk beds that are perfect for children, but can sleep up to 10 adults as well. This room has a WC, but no bathtub or shower.

TRANSPORT	A complimentary car and driver is available for 8 hours a day for villa guests. Alternatively, villa staff can call one of Bali’s safe and reasonably priced metered taxis (on guest account).
EVENTS	Chalina Estate is suitable for weddings and events of up to 120 people.

Location

Chalina Estate is located in a quiet, rural area of Canggu and is bordered by the Pangi River with rice field views on nearly every side. On clear days, you can see Mount Batukaru (a dormant volcano) in the distance. Pererenan Beach is only a five-minute walk from the villa, and if you walk a little further south, you will reach Echo Beach, which is famous for its surfing and vibrant seafood restaurant. Should you want to do some sightseeing, Tanah Lot temple is just a short drive to the north, and Seminyak with its stylish shops, restaurants and nightlife is a 25-minute drive to the south.
