The Layout

GUEST PAVILION
Villa Markisa’s entrance leads to the upper floor of an ocean-facing guest pavilion with two interconnecting two-bedroom apartments. Each apartment has its own entranceway, a sleek living room with designer decor and furnishings, and an elegant ensuite bedroom with a glass balcony overlooking the ocean on the upper floor. Stairs lead down to the lower levels where each apartment has a dining room with a glass-topped table that can seat six, plus another ensuite bedroom with sliding glass doors that open to a private pool. The apartments are particularly attractive for families and groups, as each bedroom has a split-king bed that can be configured as a king or twins, and there are discreet doors that can connect or separate the apartments.

MASTER SUITE
Hidden away at the cliff’s edge just below the main villa grounds, the luxurious master suite at Villa Markisa offers the utmost seclusion and romance. Fronted by a lush garden overlooking the ocean, the villa has a private free-form swimming pool and plenty of space to spread out. Inside there is light-filled living room decked out with antiques including a gilded Chinese engagement bed, a dining area with a table that can seat four, a gorgeous bedroom with a king-sized bed, and a marble ensuite bathroom with a rain shower and terrazzo bathtub that faces the sea.

LIVING AREAS
Taking centre place in the villa’s lengthy lawn is an open-sided living pavilion with comfortable oversized rattan chairs and a dining table that can seat up to eight people. This is the ideal locale for leisurely lunches amid sea breezes, canapés at sunset, or group dinners. However, for the best views of the beach and ocean, make your way to the spectacular glass balcony that juts out over the edge of the cliff. There is also cushioned seating with ocean views on the deck that sits on the roof of the master suite.

Guests of Villa Markisa are also welcome to use the shared facilities at Pandawa Estate including the squash and tennis courts, fully equipped gym, and the tranquil spa. Should you want to get out and explore the Bukit and other areas of Bali, Pandawa Beach can be accessed via a new road that cuts into the cliff, and there are cars with drivers on standby who are available for hire.

Peacefully and privately situated, at the end of a winding country lane on Bali’s southernmost tip, The Pandawa Cliff Estate is a hidden paradise overlooking the Indian ocean from its enchanting cliff-top setting.

Apart from a handful of other luxury villas sprinkling the cliff top, and the beach huts and local cafes bordering the white sands of Pandawa Beach far below (named after the five warrior brothers of the Mahabharata epic, whose white stone statues are carved into niches along the road leading down to the beach), there is little development in this unspoiled corner of Bali. But despite it’s tranquil, rural setting, The Pandawa Cliff Estate is less than 30 minutes’ drive from Bali’s international airport, and within easy reach of several glorious surf beaches, the sacred sea temple of Uluwatu, and the many restaurants and beach bars of Jimbaran and Nusa Dua.
