Depending on when you arrive, El Kabron is either about sun-drenched sangria sessions on the comfy beanbag chairs next to the turquoise infinity pool, intimate candlelit dinners in the sleek newly designed dining room or grooving to live bands and international DJs on the open-air terrace against a background of fiery red and orange sunsets. And no matter what time you go, there are always creative cocktails, wines and beer on offer, tasty Spanish tapas and vibrant dishes that burst with the flavours and flair of the Mediterranean.
Barcelona native Executive Chef Marc Torices was inspired by his grandmother’s cooking and the rich aromas and flavours of the spices and produce of Spain’s traditional markets. After graduating with a specialisation in haute cuisine from the Tourism Saint Ignasi and Hofmann Cooking School in Barcelona, he went on to work in Michelin starred restaurants in Spain and eventually set off to travel the world. He now brings his culinary prowess to the kitchen at El Kabron.
During the day, El Kabron’s famous Cliff Club offers a mix of small plates that you can nibble on solo or share with friends at the cheerful blue and white tables overlooking the sea. Cold dishes for hot days include the zesty Gazpacho soup, Smoked Cold Fish Selection and colourful Mediterranean Salad with rucola, roasted beetroot, saute mushrooms, smoked bacon and pine nuts tossed in a tangy garlic and mustard dressing.
Classic Spanish dishes here are also a superb choice, as they are renowned for being the real deal. Try the Tortilla de Patatas, Pulpo a la Gallega and Croquetas for light bites, indulge in fine imported Spanish cheeses and meats, or snack on the highly recommended ‘Bikini’ sandwich with Iberico ham, Manchego cured cheese and mushrooms. For something more substantial, try the Paella de Marisco packed with fresh prawns, cuttlefish, clams and mussels, or the Arroz Negro with oven-cooked seafood and rice in squid ink.
New to El Kabron is the Rustic Dining menu served in the elegant covered dining room. The menu focuses on authentic Mediterranean dishes, seasonal cooking and a commitment to using only natural ingredients that the land and sea can provide. Genuine flavours are what matters most, which is apparent in each and every divine bite.
Start your meal with the Tartar de Tomate Confitado with smoked codfish foam before moving on to the heavenly Pan-Grilled ‘Sous Vide’ 12-hour Slow-Cooked Pork Belly, or the Roast Lamb Stuffed Cannelloni with creamy daikon puree and mushroom sauce. Finish off with a slice of the rich Ganache Layered Chocolate Cake or the silky smooth Crema Catalan. After dinner, you can head outside for cool beats amid warm ocean breezes and great company.
