Mason Elephant Park
Set in sprawling botanical gardens, the Mason Elephant Park is a must-see spot for kids and adults alike. The 30+ elephants here were rescued from logging camps in Sumatra, and now enjoy a peaceful life in their natural surroundings. Watch these graceful beasts bathing in the lakes, sleeping under the trees and socializing amid lush greenery. You can also feed the elephants by hand, take photos with them and take an unforgettable ride on the back of one of these gentle animals.
Green Camp
The Green School has gained a following around the world for its holistic, student-centered educational programs with an environmental focus, set in unique bamboo classrooms located amid rice paddies and organic gardens. Now kids from around the world can take part in their daily and weekly Green Camp programs, where kids aged 5-14 years can learn about the arts and culture of Bali, eco-friendly practices and leadership skills, all while enjoying the fresh air and natural beauty surrounding the school.
Bali Zoo
Animals lovers won’t want to miss a trip to the Bali Zoo. Here you can see over 350 exotic animals housed in eco-habitats throughout the 22-acre property. Stroll the garden paths to see fascinating creatures such as orangutans, sun bears, African lions, Sumatran tigers, Komodo dragons, snakes and colorful birds. There are also many hands-on exhibits where you can feed and pet the animals, night visits where you can see nocturnal animals in action, and tree walks where you can traverse wooden bridges and platforms, race down zip lines, and swing over the jungle below.
Bali Bird Park & Reptile Park
These two parks are located side by side in the lovely village of Singapadu, and are fascinating places people see rare birds and exotic reptiles from Indonesia and around the world. The Bali Bird Park is home to over 1,000 birds, some of which are housed in aviaries that you can walk through. For the brave, the Reptile Park offers a great opportunity to get up close and personal with poisonous snakes, Komodo dragons, crocodiles, and monitor lizards. There is even an open-air area where you can take photos with massive pythons and iguanas.
The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
Kids and monkeys seem to get along like peas in a pod. The Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud is a top attraction with adults and kids for its packs of mischievous monkeys that chase each other along the shady paths, swing from the temples and the trees, and nap and cuddle with their babies along the stone walls that line the trails. Inside the forest there are also three scenic temples that feature intricately carved stone gates with images of mythical beasts, moss-covered stairways and shrines covered in colourful cloths and offerings.
White Water Rafting
Older kids will love the exhilaration of a white water rafting trip down the Ayung River. Mason Adventures offer half-day trips down 33 gushing Class II and Class III rapids that flow past dense tropical jungle and interesting rock formations. The tours include instruction and supervision with experienced guides, international standard safety equipment, and hot showers and a buffet breakfast after the trip. People of all ages and skill levels are welcome on the tours.
