Do as the locals do: haggle a little, pick your fish, and have it grilled at one of the nearby warungs.
If mornings aren’t your thing, don’t worry. Dozens of seafood cafes line the beach, most with tables set directly on the sand. You can choose your dinner straight from live tanks—think crabs, clams, mussels, and prawns. As the sun dips below the horizon, the entire bay glows orange. Sunset dining here is a must.
Water lovers have plenty to enjoy too. Try kayaking, canoeing, or snorkeling in the calm bay. Swimmers will love the gentle tides. For surfers, some of Bali’s most famous breaks are just a short drive away. Head to:
- Padang Padang – a favorite for advanced surfers chasing big barrels
- Impossibles – long, fast waves with fewer crowds
- Uluwatu – iconic cliffs, a legendary reef break, and a temple above

- Balangan Beach – wide beach with consistent surf and epic sunsets
For a change of pace, the New Kuta Golf Course offers sweeping views of the Indian Ocean along manicured greens. It’s a great way to unwind after a day on the water.
