The Pala is Pandawa Cliff Estate’s fabulous flagship villa perched on the edge of a cliff above the white sands of Pandawa Beach and the Indian Ocean. This spectacular 6-bedroom villa features a 20-metre infinity pool at the edge of the cliff, spacious and stylish indoor and outdoor living areas, and fantastic facilities that include a spa treatment room, stone amphitheatre and children’s playroom. The Pala also enjoys a prime location just a short drive from some of the best beaches, surf breaks, dayclubs and golf courses in Bali.
The Pala’s opulent upper-floor living room is the social heart of the villa. This light-filled space features two sitting areas with soft blue and white sofas, a tiered ceiling painted with frescos of nature, and a huge curved balcony with a glass barrier that allows for views over the ocean. For quiet nights in, there is an intimate TV lounge on one side of the living room just in front of the entrance to the master suite.
A spiral staircase leads to the dining room on the ground floor where there is a formal dining table for 12, a round dining table for eight people in front of the bar and butler station, and a gorgeous furnished balcony that opens to the garden. Behind the dining room there is a serene spa treatment room for relaxing massages and holistic therapies. Outdoors a winding pathway in the garden leads to a children’s playroom and games room with puzzles, toys and a Nintendo Wii that will keep little ones entertained for hours.
Located on the upper floor of The Pala, the magnificent master suite features floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides and a beautiful glass-enclosed balcony overlooking the ocean and Pandawa Beach. The king-sized bed faces the balcony, so the ocean views are on offer from the minute you wake up. This suite also has a sitting room with comfortable cream-coloured sofas and a 40-inch television, a writing desk, bar fridge, and a sleek marble bathroom with a free-standing bathtub, double vanity and a shower encased in glass.
Four of Villa Pala’s guest suites are located on either side of the foyer and are arranged in pairs with two on the ground floor and two on the upper level. Designed with families in mind, each room has either a king or split-king bed and a sliding door that separates the bedroom from an anteroom that can be used as a sitting room or an extra bedroom for children. The rooms also have sofas or daybeds, bar fridges, desks, and attractive marble bathrooms with freestanding bathtubs and glass-fronted showers. The final guest room lies on the ground floor under the master suite and has a split-king bed, doors that open to the lawn, and indoor and outdoor showers.
Outdoor living is a given at The Pala, as there are plenty of places to enjoy the tropical weather and spectacular ocean views. On the ground floor in front of the master bedroom wing there is a covered BBQ and bar area with a table for 10 under a cooling ceiling fan. This area also has two conveniently placed guest washrooms. Head towards the cliff’s edge and you find a sunken stone amphitheatre designed for traditional Balinese dance performances, as well as the 20-metre infinity pool with a shallow area for children and a relaxation bale on one corner that offers unrivalled views of the horizon and beach below.
