Alila Hotels

Lifestyle Retreats | Seminyak, Uluwatu, Manggis, Ubud
6 Nights from USD 1,485

The name Alila translates to ‘surprise’ in Sanskrit, which is a pretty apt description for the Alila Hotels. Each of their impressive properties is set in a stunning location and features fresh, innovative design and bespoke holiday experiences that incorporate nature, local culture and personalised hospitality.

Ultimate Bali recently teamed up with Alila Hotels to launch a curated collection of holistic wellness packages designed exclusively for Ultimate Bali guests. These packages allow you to split your time between two spectacular Alila resorts and take advantage of wellness and lifestyle activities that include daily yoga classes, signature spa treatments, cycling and trekking trips through the rice paddies and jungle, and much more.

Each Alila property is unique in its own way, as the resorts have been designed to blend in seamlessly with their natural environments. For example, at Alila Ubud you will find an array of rooms and villas set on stilts overlooking a dramatic river valley cloaked in dense rainforest, while at Alila Seminyak the tropical chic rooms offer views out to the Indian Ocean and the golden sands of Seminyak Beach. Alila Villas Uluwatu features stunning private pool villas perched on the edge of limestone cliffs above the ocean, and Alila Manggis is a serene seaside resort set in a coconut grove between the beach and Bali’s sacred Mount Agung.

Retreat Programmes

The Alila retreat programmes are one-of-a-kind in that they allow guests to experience not just one stunning locale, but two different resorts, each offering their own signature wellness and destination experiences.

Book into the Alila Seminyak & Alila Villas Uluwatu package and you can stay for three nights at each resort and enjoy inclusions like daily breakfasts and lunches consisting of fresh local fare, daily yoga classes and spa treatments, and a one-time glass of wine or healing jamu at sunset at both resorts. You can also embark on a scenic cycling tour from Alila Seminyak, and a journey to a local community and orphanage from Alila Villas Uluwatu.

The Alila Manggis & Alila Ubud package is just as enticing with three nights stay at each resort, daily breakfast, set lunches and afternoon refreshments, yoga and tai chi classes, soothing spa treatments, and sunset drinks at both resorts. The Alila Experiences here include catching the sunrise or sunset at Alila Manggis and embarking on a Bayad trekking tour from your base at Alila Ubud.

Alila Seminyak lies less than 30 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport and a short stroll from the fashionable streets of Seminyak, where you can indulge in the upmarket attractions that have made Seminyak one of the hottest destinations on the island. Here, high-end designer boutiques, art and antique galleries rub shoulders with trendy nightspots, fine dining establishments and uber chic cafes, including notably happening hangouts such as Ku De Ta, La Lucciola and Potato Head. Soak up Seminyak's unique ambience that blends the appeal of a village neighbourhood with the best attributes of a cosmopolitan lifestyle.

Alila Villas Uluwatu perched on limestone cliffs 100 metres above the Indian Ocean, the view is nothing less than picture-perfect – aquamarine ocean vistas and glorious golden sunsets. Situated on an elevated plateau along the southern coastline of Bali on the Bukit Peninsula, conveniently located 30 minutes from Ngurah Rai International airport, and 15 minutes from the Uluwatu Temple.

Alila Manggis is situated within the regency of Karangasem, close to the village of Candidasa, and provides the perfect base from which to explore unspoiled East Bali. This area of the island is renowned for its spectacular beauty, where the steep rise from coast to mountain creates magical scenery. It is also the gateway to the dive islands of the East Coast, the mother temple of Besakih and the great water palaces and kingdoms of East Bali. Via the new Professor Ida Bagus Mantra road, Alila Manggis is just 1 hour and 30 minutes’ drive from the international airport.

Alila Ubud lies in the traditional Balinese hill village of Payangan, on the banks of the mystical and magical Ayung River. Alila Ubud is just five kilometres from Bali's artistic centre of Ubud, a place where artists, writers and musicians from around the world find their inspiration. Here guests can visit a number of art galleries and museums, see dramatic and opulent temple festivals and dances, to take in the magic of the real Bali.

  1. Beautiful Property

I spent 2 nights at Alila Seminyak and was very impressed by my entire experience there. The service staff were impeccable and I genuinely felt welcome throughout my stay. The property is huge, with a few different pools to choose from. The main pool provides a beautiful view of the sea and the horizon and is a great place to have drinks and watch the sunset.

  1. Outstanding service, facilities and experience

My friend and I recently stayed 2 nights at Alila and had an excellent stay/experience. Firstly, we want to thank the staff at Alila as every staff member we interacted with was so helpful, accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities are clean, modern and so beautiful. It's definitely worth every $$ to stay here. We also did the scenic ride through Alila, which is a bike ride through rice paddies eventually leading to a temple built on the beach, finished the ride with a private picnic on the beach! This was a really nice break from the busy streets of seminyak. Just a special mention to the breakfast/brunch which was included in our accommodation package was SO good, they had a buffet (fruits, breads, jams, pastries, congee, sweets, fresh juices) as well as (all you can order) al a carte, the restaurant faces the ocean so you get to enjoy your delicious food while taking in breathtaking views! We will definitely be coming back!

  1. Great location, beautiful pools and views

Stunning resort. We stayed in the studios closer to the main road which was still fantastic. Alila had great pools, including a quiet one which loved. Staff at the pools were fantastic, very attentive. Every time we propped on a sun lounge or a bean bag for a drink, a lovely little caddy would come with cool face towels, bottles of water, sunscreen, face mist - such a lovely touch. Rooms were very spacious, comfy beds, great amount of storage space and the bathroom very well appointed. Loved the gym and daily yoga too. Alila were fantastic adjusting our booking when our flight was cancelled and we were delayed a day. Can not fault them, it was a perfect holiday.

  1. Beautiful Resort

We stayed 4 nights at Alila Manggis. It is about 90mins from the airport but very different from Anywhere on Bali I have been before. The hotel is quite small ( about 50 rooms ) and it was not busy when we stayed. The service was unobtrusive but excellent - Very personal and we were made to feel very special. The breakfast was amazing - all a la carte no buffet - we have stayed at many hotels but this was the best breakfast I have experienced. The staff were always happy to give advice about things to do and taking excursions from the hotel was very easy to arrange. If you want a few days of real peace - this is the place.

  1. Relaxation Tranquility

Alila Manggis is a beautifully designed and located resort and spa retreat in East Bali. The service is exceptionally friendly and personal. The quality and range of food provided is superb. There are a large range of activities to suit many tastes including snorkelling, hiking and cultural tours. This is a place to come and relax and enjoy fantastic Balinese hospitality.

  1. An Exclusive Hotel

I have been to many hotels in Bali, most of them are very nice with good service but All Manggis is what I would say exclusive. It is among a coconut tree gardens, very peaceful and quite big for every guest find its own peace and this is what I like. Service is very good, very professional, there are activities every morning like yoga, tai-chi...The pool is very nice as well as the areas close to the beach if you want more privacy. Having a drink with the sunset is amazing and again service is very professional and they all know your name which is very pleasant. I do really suggest that hotel while in Bali.

  1. Wonderful

This hotel is fantastic. Set in what seems like a beautiful rainforest, views are out of this world! The staff are wonderful nothing is too much trouble and they are always smiling and very friendly. Food is organic and so tasty. Different menu for breakfast every day including juices and smoothies. Rooms very comfortable including toiletries, which are first class. They have an amazing perfume so good that I even bought some to bring home and they were also available at the shower by the pool. It was such a relaxing place, like being in another world. Had a massage at the spa on the first day after the long flight and it definitely made us feel so much better. Would definitely return!!

  1. Stunning

We had the wonderful opportunity to stay at this magnificent resort last month and it was truly magical . From the food to the staff and not to forget the gorgeous pool that over looks the jungle. The staff were very accommodating and genuine Great place 5 stars

  1. Paradise on Earth

Alila is truly the best resort in the world. Our experience there really justifies the price we paid. Firstly, our butler was exceptional. Attentive and accommodating, but never intrusive. The staff at the resort were all very friendly, and they remembered our name throughout our stay. The spa and Indonesia restaurant within the resort were also exceptional.

  1. Paradise in the Jungle

Alila Ubud is a little peace of heaven surrounded by breath-taking nature and offering all you can ask of a luxury hotel. The staff is especially friendly even in Balinese standards. Can't wait to be back.

  1. Incredible

Alila is one of the most amazing hotels I've ever been to. Literally everything about the place is incredible! The rooms, the pool, the spa, the restaurant and lounge, the gardens, the views!!! There are many many hotels in Ubud to choose from, but you really cannot go wrong with Alila. Great location too! We went as a couple and it was just the most relaxing, romantic hotel we could've asked for. Thank you!

  1. Excellent Yoga

The yoga venue is amazing. It faces to the Uluwatu cliff. Can enjoy the ocean view , sound of waves and sunlight while doing yoga. Instructor Nyoman is excellent. He is very experienced and instructs well. Even beginners enjoy the class very much. It's a very quiet and beautiful resort. Amazing view of Uluwatu cliff. Interior of hotel is high class. Feels lots of privacy there. I would def stay there in the future. If you are looking for a nice place to relax, body and mind, that's your place.

  1. Stunning Hotel

There's only one word I can use to describe this place and it's stunning. Staff are fantastic, the butler service is great and the rooms are excellent. I can't pick a single fault in our short 3 night stay here. The views are remarkable. The villas are quiet and great for some down time. If you are in Bali and fancy some time to get away from the hustle and bustle then this is the perfect place for you. We also stayed at the Alila Seminyak and Ubud, they were all good hotels but the Alila Uluwatu was in a league of its own.

  1. Heavenly

Prepare to be amazed. Alila Villas Uluwatu is like heaven on earth. The design of this resort is flawless. When you arrive, the lobby sets the tone for what will be an otherworldly experience. Our villa was gorgeous. As we walked in for the first time, our south-facing wall was open, exposing a beautiful view of the private plunge pool and cabana. In the distance, the Indian Ocean meets the evening skyline. The room is amazing. The bath and shower spa-worthy. And the bed like a cloud. You may have a hard time leaving your private oasis, but you should definitely make time for the on-site spa. I booked a 90 min massage and it was one of the best I've ever had. This resort is remote. It feels like a little corner of heaven. One I still dream of returning to.

  1. Excellent

If you are looking for the ultimate in privacy and relaxation, then this is the place to be. The views alone are to die for. The resort is beautiful, architecturally and is very clean. The restaurants are fabulous and the breakfast menu, which is a la carte, changes daily. They are very accommodating to dietary requirements and are happy to make small changes to the menu to suit you. The rooms are modern and the iPad in the room allows you to order anything toy like without having to pick up a phone - genius! I've been here twice now and will definitely come back. Gede was our Butler on both occasions and was very helpful, accommodating and knew the level of service we were after - not too involved. We wanted to stay in, relax by our private pool and enjoy the serenity of having the ocean on one side and the jungle on the other.
