Overview

Although Villa Shambala is just minutes from some of Bali’s best boutiques, spas, restaurants, bars and beach clubs, as soon as you step into the sun dappled garden at the villa you feel as though you are miles away from the traffic and crowds. The garden is bursting with tropical greenery, and the bubbling water features accompany the sounds of birds chirping away in the palm and frangipani trees.

Each of the wooden pavilions here was designed in traditional Indonesian style, and warm teak wood can be found throughout in the form of soaring ceiling beams, pillars, coffee tables and wood floors. Plenty of sofas and cushions mean that you always have somewhere to chill out, and the profusion of artefacts, artworks and primitive statues remind you that you’ve truly arrived in Indonesia. Of course, the state-of-the-art equipment, appliances and modern technology also place you firmly in the 21st century.

The Layout

Indoor Living
The main pavilion at Villa Shambala is an antique joglo from Java, and it houses the living and dining areas as well as the master bedroom and one guest bedroom. Families and friends can gather at the huge U-shaped sofa in the living room and gaze out at the pool area or the water feature at the back. Glass doors open to allow light and air to flow freely, and the dining area is just steps away with its long wooden table that seats 10.

In addition, the main pavilion is where you’ll find the modern kitchen with an island work station and breakfast bar, and the media room with a large screen projector, satellite TV, DVD player, surround sound system, and a huge library with DVDs, CDs, books and games.

Master Suite
The master bedroom at Villa Shambala is truly unique, with a stunning carved wooden canopy above the queen bed that allows you to pull down flowing white nets to create an intimate sanctuary within the room. Purple and cream accents contrast nicely against the wooden floors, antiques add a touch of class, and large floor to ceiling windows offer views over the stone Buddha, water feature and lily pond. This room also has an ensuite garden bathroom with a natural stone tub and a rain shower.

Guest Suites
Villa Shambala has one guest bedroom in the main pavilion and another three in a separate guest pavilion that also features another TV lounge with a 42-inch TV and DVD player. Each of the guest bedrooms has a queen-sized bed (although the beds in the separate guest pavilion can also be separated into twin beds), courtyard bathroom, and bright decor that creates a cheerful vibe.

Outdoor Living
Outside you will find the 19-metre swimming pool lined with lofty palm trees, pool decks with sun loungers, umbrellas, and bean bag chairs, and a circular lounge seating area under a sail-like canopy. There is also a special spa pavilion with two massage beds, and an outdoor dining area with a barbecue and space to seat up to 20 people.

Extremely Impressed

Villa Shambala was an amazing villa to stay at. From the beginning of the trip upon our late night arrival, staff met us with food and drinks and explained the villa to us. The staff was always willing to help in anyway possible. Food was prepared when and how we requested. The staff was more than willing to arrange taxis for our group and reservations at local restaurants. I was extremely impressed with the house and would definitely recommend it for anyone staying in Seminyak.

A wonderful week

The Villa is exactly as shown on the website - if not better. There is somewhere to "get away" for everyone. We were an extended family ( from 70 to 2) and the separate bedrooms worked very well. The outdoor eating area made for many happy family meals. The pool was large with a shallow end for younger children and deep enough and large enough for a decent swim. The staff were outstanding. There was always someone there for meals and the chef did a wonderful job of cooking for the children as well as the adults. Butlers, room attendants, gardeners were all helpful and nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful week. We had to drag ourselves away.

Absolutely Amazing

A true gem

Oh My!! we can't rave enough about this place - although I want to keep a lid on it due to the fact that we don't want it to become too popular we can't get back in!!! We help my 40th poolside soire here and could not have asked for a better time! the staff could not do enough - the food impeccable - the atmosphere fun and fabulous when we needed it and relaxing and indulgent when things needed to be slow! our guests and ourselves were truly blown away with Wayan, Arya and his team!! well done to a fabulous bunch and a true gem of a villa!.

Slice of paradise

Stunning Villa in the earth of Seminyak, only few steps away from the beach and KUDETA's spotlights. Despite the central location, we enjoyed peaceful time only surrounded by palms and bamboos trees. Bedrooms are spacious, charming and really well decorated, only one of the five bedrooms does not meet the same standards and it's more suitable for children or temporary guests rather than for a couple staying long term. The outside area is dominated by one of the biggest pools you can find in a private villa in Seminyak. And for better enjoying this slice of paradise we have been supported by a kind, unobtrusive and smiling staff. For sure it was one experience we all would like to repeat in the near future!”
