Overview

As soon as you pass the huge Palimanan stone frieze and Javanese statues at the entranceway of Villa Mandalay, you know you’re in for a treat. Stepping stones make their way across a lily pond and lead to the gleaming white stone pavilions that create a U-shape around the 25-metre green stone tiled swimming pool.

The rooms here feature soaring ceilings, dark timber accents and tasteful Indonesian paintings and sculptures, and there are plenty of soft furnishings to seat the whole gang and quiet alcoves where you can enjoy some alone time, including a full cedar Finnish sauna. However, with sweeping green lawns, a putting green, the glittering pool and the black sands of Seseh Beach nearby, you may just find yourself spending the majority of your time outdoors.

The Layout

Indoor Living
The living and dining pavilion rests along one end of the pool, and it has polished wooden floors, high ceilings with fans, a glass-topped dining table that can seat 12 people, plus a more intimate four-seater table, and a fully stocked bar in the back with a surround sound stereo system. On the mezzanine level you can recline on soft cushions under the sloping ceilings, peruse the book shelves for good reads, or watch a movie from the DVD collection on the 61-inch TV.

Master Suites
Villa Mandalay offers two master bedrooms which can be found on either side of the living and dining pavilion. Each has a king-sized bed, flat screen TV, DVD player, long writing desk, timber deck overlooking the gardens and a grand ensuite bathroom with a huge terrazzo bathtub.

Guest Suites
Four guest bedrooms lead off the main pavilion along the sides of the pool. Like the master bedrooms, they also have king beds, flat screen TVs, and beautiful ensuite bathrooms, as well as doors that open directly onto the pool deck and glass doors in the back that open to the garden. Attractive added touches include window seats and alcoves overlooking lush greenery.

For those who prefer a bit more privacy, the studio suite is located down a set of stone stairs in the lower garden next to the sauna. This serene space includes a king-sized bed, ensuite bathroom and an exquisite wooden deck with sun loungers that sits atop a lotus pond.

Outdoor Living
One of the most striking features of Villa Mandalay is the artistic bamboo pavilion that rests on a platform in a water garden teeming with brightly coloured flowers and fish. The pavilion has a wooden table that can seat 8 people, as well as a lounge space with cushioned rattan sofas. The views here are simply divine, which makes this the perfect spot for breezy breakfasts and lunches, sundowner cocktails and romantic candlelit dinners.

Location

Villa Mandalay’s rural setting, near the small village of Munggu, means there is little in the immediate vicinity apart from neighbouring villas, a scattering of local houses, and a small warung (local café) situated a couple of hundred metres away. A gentle stroll through the village will bring you to the black sands of Seseh beach (2km) while Tanah Lot Temple (8km), the Nirwana Bali Golf Course (7km) and the Pan Pacific Nirwana Resort (7km) with a number of good restaurants, are all easily visited. Cosmopolitan Seminyak with its plethora of restaurants, bars and boutiques is just 13km from the villa.

Amazing pool, great views and staff that really makes you feel at home!

The 25m x 6m pool is amazing, the view over the rice fields up to the ocean great and the staff like family. You'll step into this villa and the staff will make you feel at home right away. Very nice manager, nice butlers and a cook you really would like to take home. The food is amazing!
