The Layout

Living Areas
On the ground floor of Villa Iskandar you have a bright open-sided living room accented by a Chinese screen and Balinese gong, soft sofas with Chinese silk cushions and a 48-inch TV with a DVD player. A balcony in the front overlooks the pool and river, and there is a pergola next to the balcony spilling over with white blossoms. An al fresco dining table for four sits on the balcony surrounded by fish ponds and a bubbling urn. Also on the ground floor is a formal dining room with a table for ten. This room can be air-conditioned or open to the fresh air via glass doors.

Master Suite
The master bedroom is on the upper floor of the villa, and it has a high pitched ceiling, queen bed, antique furnishings, a balcony with a table for two and a river rock bathtub in the ensuite bathroom.

Guest Suites
Two guest rooms are housed on the ground floor, one next to the dining room with hardwood floors, a queen bed, a walk-in shower and a balcony, and the other at the front of the property with dark hardwood floors, a queen bed, an ensuite bathroom with an oversized tub for two, and a viewing platform over the river. Finally, follow a set of spiral stairs down to the river’s edge and you will find the ultra-private studio bedroom with a queen bed, a walk-in shower, and a wooden deck with a daybed.

Outdoor Living
The ironwood pool deck is built around the curved contours of the 15-metre, infinity-edge swimming pool that looks out over the river valley. This magnificent outdoor area is furnished with sun loungers and an alfresco dining table for eight, and shaded by frangipani trees and tall fan palms, while a firebowl at the edge of the pool creates a romantic ambiance at night.

A spiral staircase winds down to a riverside deck, open to the sky and situated next to the studio bedroom. This magical spot is the perfect place to practice yoga or meditate to the murmur of the river.

Location

Villa Iskandar is situated in a jungle-fringed river gorge close to the village of Beraban in Bali’s Tabanan regency, which is known as Bali’s ‘rice bowl’ due to its vast terraced rice fields. This quaint village bordering a river is a rare example of a traditional Balinese community barely touched by tourism and the rapid development to the south of the island. Villa guests are accorded a privileged insight into the agricultural, religious and daily life of the friendly villagers. Just four kilometres away is the famed Tanah Lot sea temple and the award-winning Greg Norman-designed Nirwana Bali Golf Course. The nearest surf beaches, including Echo Beach, are about eight kilometres from the villa.

Fabulous villa

We checked out today from Villa Iskander (with another 10 members of the family in the adjoining Villa Atacaya). In every respect it exceeded everyone's expectations - the warmth and flexibility of staff, the luxury and Alit's meals were memorable. Every comfort is provided and cars ferried us around at our convenience. If you are looking for accommodation for 8-10 (Iskander Villa) or 20 (both villas) I can't imagine finding better...and while my generation (40s-60s) loved it, so did the 12 members of the family aged between 14 and 23. In fact, we were privileged enough to be there for Nyepi and all of us relished the opportunity to have a quiet day and enjoy the stars and sounds of the river and birds. Thank you to Suka and Suria and their teams for an amazing time. The family want to come back again next year.

Peaceful & Relaxiing

We very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Iskandar, we rented both Iskandar and Atacaya which were right next to each other and great for group bookings. It was very peaceful, relaxing and great to get out of the busy areas of Seminyak for a few days and see the real Bali. The service was outstanding as staff were always willing to help and create the most enjoyable experience possible. We would love to visit the villa again!
